Montez Sweat Suspended Two Games for PED Violation

Chicago Bears defensive end Montez Sweat has been suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s performance-enhancing substances policy. The 30-year-old player will miss upcoming games against the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots, and he is set for reinstatement on October 23.

Sweat’s absence correlates with another setback for the Bears, as defensive end Dayo Odeyingbo was injured during a recent game and did not return. Meanwhile, the Bears have activated Shemar Turner from the physically unable to perform list to fill Sweat’s roster spot. Turner had been recovering from an ACL tear sustained last year.

Dennis Allen, the Bears’ defensive coordinator, expressed caution about expecting too much from returning players like Turner, suggesting a gradual integration into playing time. With challenges including Sweat’s suspension and injuries to key players, Chicago’s defensive lineup will need strategic adjustments in the upcoming games.
